Meet Our Missionaries ---
Rev. Aaron and Lynette Albecht, with their two little girls, Cassidy and Jessica, are serving at the Lutheran Student Center in Tokyo, Japan. The Japanese don’t need medical or educational help, but they do need to hear the gospel. Many Japanese young people have affluent lives as we do here in the United States, but they feel the shallowness of basing their lives on consumerism. They feel an emptiness in their lives, an emptiness that only Jesus Christ can fill. Some of the students Aaron works with have come to faith in Christ and they are now reaching out in support of a medical mission in India. Several of the Japanese students have gone there on mission trips. They have gone to spread the love of God through both word and deed. Keep Aaron and his family and his students in your prayers.
Dave and Kate Brindley work with Campus Crusade for Christ in reaching out to the students of West Chester University with the good news of Jesus Christ. Their newsletter always tells of students who are seeking spiritual meaning for their lives and who are hungry to know more about Christ. Dave and Kate are expecting a baby soon and have incurred unexpected expenses. So please keep them in your prayers. Pray for a safe delivery and a healthy baby. If you are led to help them financially, mark your donation to the church “Brindley.”
Ken and Linda Dieter are in Tyler, Texas and Ken goes on short-term mission trips to Central and South America. Sometimes he is involved with conducting training seminars for pastors, many of whom have little formal training or education in ministry. At other times Ken is involved with street ministry with gospel skits or sports events. Please keep him in your prayers.
Jim and Doris McIntyre are stationed in Guam with Trans World Radio, which broadcasts Christian radio programs throughout Asia. The radio broadcasts are listened to by people even in countries that are closed to the gospel. Through the broadcasts the word of God gets through even though missionaries can’t. Doris is continuing her long and ongoing battle with cancer, being sustained by the Lord. God is using Doris to reach out and to minister to others who are in similar situations. I believe God is working miracles through Doris’ quiet and faithful witness. Pray for their ministry and pray for Doris’ full recovery.
The Navajo Lutheran Mission, at Rock Point, Arizona, has long been close to our heart here at Centennial. On a mission trip several years back we had first hand experience at the Navajo mission. We got to meet the people and to witness their faith in action at the school. The people we met were very friendly, but also very shy. I’m afraid that we must have seemed like a loud-mouthed bunch. In one of the Navajo supermarkets, even though there were only a few of us, we were louder than everyone else combined in the store. Pray for the Navajo, for their physical needs and that they would come to know the Lord and grow in his grace. (And save your pennies for “Penny Sunday” when they will be collected for the benefit of the mission.)
Scott Szabo is serving with the Coalition for Christian Outreach at Montgomery County Community College West, in Pottstown. Scott has given much needed direction and leadership to the Christian group on campus and continues to reach out to the unchurched and spiritually hungry students on campus. If you are led to help Scott financially in his ministry, you can do so through CCO. Contact Scott for more details. Keep Scott in your prayers as he follows God’s leading.
And do know that wherever you are and whatever you do, you too can be a missionary, spreading the light of Christ. Just be mindful of who you are in Christ and be intentional in seeking ways to share your faith with others. It could be that today is the day that God will place a person in your path who needs a word of hope, someone who needs to know that God cares. God bless you.
