Missy's Testimony
My name is Missy and I’d like to tell you about my experiences with God. Before a recent Mission Trip, I had nothing to do with God, because I didn’t really know that much about Him. I went on the Mission Trip, because I thought there would be like parties and really fun stuff, which there was, but not the way I thought it would be like.
On the first day we just got to meet the people that were around us. Then we got a specific work group and then we pretty much hung out with them the whole time. Then we would get up really early (6:45, during summer break) in the morning the then we had like an hour to get ready. We had jobs, so I made the food and it was pretty fun. After that we would go to a home or area where we had jobs that were assigned to us. I had to paint, then lunch would come and I made the sandwiches. We would talk and joke around, and we got close in our group.
Then we prayed and discussed a topic for fifteen minutes. We would work the rest of the time. Around three we would go back and take showers and talk until five, and then it was supper time. That would go on until seven, and then at seven we would sing and have skits and fun things that had to relate with God. Around nine we would go to our youth groups and talk about a specific topic and it was usually really serious and that’s where I became really close to God.
One night I was just overwhelmed with love and I was really happy. Scott could tell that it was Gods work, but by the end of the week I was the closest I ever was with God. It was really hard to leave though. But we had to, and I will never forget it.
Although that was one of my best weeks, I still am really high in God. I haven’t forgotten to thank God and to pray almost every night. He has helped me through a lot, in school and outside. He doesn’t leave my side for one second. I know my relationship will get stronger but I'm still happy for what it is now. The next mission trip will bring me even closer to God and I can’t wait. He is so awesome and I don’t think He could love us more.
