Joanne’s Testimony

I don’t ever remember “not believing” in God and always heard the stories about Jesus but there came a time in the mid-1960’s when I wanted more … but I didn’t know what to do about it …

Then came 1970 … and the worse time of my life due to separation which culminated in divorce … AND, at the same time, I can say it was the best time of my life … I began to lean on the Lord like never before and through help by strangers, I was led to say “THE PRAYER” – you know, the one where you confess your sins and invite Jesus to come into your heart to stay. At this particular prayer meeting, I was prayed over and this “new life” became real to me. It was like stepping out of a cave into the sunshine.

The first thing that Jesus did was … this might sound strange … He “loved on me” from the inside. Later I heard that this is called “Agape Love”. His Living Water had broken loose … He was waiting for me, standing at my door, knocking … and then a stranger helped me know how to “answer” Him and "invite" Him in!

There have been ups and downs, of course but I have never been without knowing that God will never … no never, ever leave me or abandon me.

I can truly say that now, after 36 years in the business of getting to know God, He has been faithful to His Word every step of the way, not only that but the Great Counselor, the Great Physician, my Comforter, my Mentor ... my Friend.

The Bible Commentator, Matthew Henry, said: “… what we ‘win by prayer’, we must ‘wear with praise’. I pray to wear His praise from here on out …
